Honed & polished concrete
Honed and polished concrete are architectural finishes from the same premium supply chain as exposed aggregate. The difference is in how the surface is processed: honed concrete is mechanically ground to a refined matte finish and sealed. Both finishes start with the same architectural mix design. Polished concrete takes the mechanical grinding process to a high-gloss finish, typically used for interior ground slabs, garages and undercover alfrescos. Decorative ground slabs are poured at 32MPa to accommodate the polishing process.
Our work in Byford
A complete exposed aggregate outdoor package — driveway, footpaths, outdoor living and bespoke custom steppers
In Byford, Colacrete completed a full outdoor concrete package in exposed aggregate — approximately 150m² covering the driveway, property footpaths, outdoor living area and council crossover. The selected mix is one of the most specified exposed aggregate mixes for Byford's modern estate homes — its clean and crisp tone complements the contemporary home designs common in this suburb's new estate stages.
The standout feature of this job was the custom stepping stone path to the front entry: individual steppers spaced at 150mm intervals through the garden bed. Each stepper was individually formed, poured and finished — a labour-intensive process that cannot be shortcut without compromising the precision of the spacing and level consistency across the path. The result is a statement entry feature that reads as architecturally considered rather than generic.
Earthworks were also completed on this job: subgrade levelling and compaction across the full footprint of the driveway and outdoor living area prior to forming up, ensuring correct surface falls and a stable base for the entire scope.

Why Byford homeowners and builders choose Colacrete
Byford sits within the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale in Perth's southern growth corridor — one of the fastest developing residential areas in Western Australia, with multiple active estate stages and a strong pipeline of new home builds. The suburb is transitioning from the sandy coastal plain soils of Perth's metropolitan fringe toward jarrah forest country; soil profiles change across the suburb and individual site assessment is important for slab and subgrade work. Block sizes in Byford's estates are generous by Perth standards, generating outdoor concrete packages of meaningful scale. The typical scope here reflects the suburb's growth phase: new driveways on recently completed builds, outdoor living packages as homeowners finish their properties, and decorative concrete that makes a new house feel like a designed home.
Colacrete is a member of the Housing Industry Australia (HIA), Master Builders Association (MBA) and Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA). Eddie brings an engineering background in civil and construction management alongside long-standing experience across concreting and general construction projects spanning a wide variety of disciplines, scales and scopes.

Yes — crossovers in Byford fall under Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale requirements. For new estate stages, coordination with the developer's civil contractor may also be required for crossover alignment and standards. Colacrete is familiar with Shire requirements and advises on the approval process during the quoting stage.

Limecrete's Eucalyptus White and Coral White are the most specified exposed aggregate mixes in Byford's new estate homes — both suit the clean, contemporary design language of the suburb's modern builds. Eucalyptus White is slightly warmer in tone; Coral White sits cooler and brighter. Both are available from Limecrete through our supplier partners. We encourage clients to view samples in person before committing on a large outdoor scope.

Individual concrete steppers are priced from $250 each. Larger format steppers — such as the 600mm × 1,200mm — require more formwork per piece and more care in level setting, which is reflected in the per-stepper rate. The formwork investment is what produces the clean, deliberate result that sets custom steppers apart from a standard path.
