YOUR LOCAL CONCRETING PARTNERConcrete Garage & Shed Pads Perth
Whether you’re laying the slab for a new double garage, prepping for a Colorbond shed, or building a workshop that’ll see real load, the pad underneath needs to be level, properly reinforced and built to handle whatever sits on top of it. At Colacrete we pour garage and shed pads across Perth — for builders, homeowners and developers — to spec and on schedule.
What we do
Garage pads — single, double and triple garages, attached and detached
Shed pads — for Colorbond and steel sheds, garden sheds, machinery sheds
Workshop slabs — for trades, hobbyists and home workshops with point loading from machinery
Lock-up storage pads — for caravans, boats, trailers
Outbuilding pads — granny flats, studios, gym buildings, pool pump rooms
Finish options
Most garage and shed pads are finished with a steel trowel for a smooth, easy-to-clean surface. Other options:
Broom finish — light texture, more grip, used where the pad will be walked on regularly in wet conditions
Polished concrete — increasingly popular for high-end garages where the slab is the finished floor. Easy to clean, resistant to oil and tyre marks, looks excellent.
Sealed concrete — sealed to resist staining and dust, particularly for workshops
Why pads matter more than people think
A pad that’s not flat, not square or not properly reinforced is a problem the moment a shed or garage gets erected on it. Doors don’t close properly. Walls don’t sit flush. Long-term, pads that have moved cause the building to crack at the joints.
Level matters. A garage or shed pad needs to be flat to within a few millimetres across its full area. We screed carefully and check with a level multiple times during the pour.
Reinforcement matters. The right reinforcement controls cracking and gives the pad the structural strength to handle vehicle weight, machinery, and load over time.
Drainage matters. A pad that holds water at the edges leads to rust on metal sheds and damp inside. Falls are designed in to drain water away from the building.
Compaction matters. What’s under the pad matters as much as the pad itself. Properly compacted base material prevents settlement that would otherwise crack the slab.
FAQ
-
For a typical residential pad, the active work is 1–2 days. Allow 7 days before erecting a heavy structure on it, and 28 days for full strength.
-
Garage and shed pad pricing in Perth typically ranges from $95 to $160 per square metre, depending on size, reinforcement requirements, finish, and any associated work.* Smaller pads often have a minimum job charge. Workshop slabs with heavy reinforcement requirements sit at the upper end.

-
Standard residential garage and shed pads are typically 100mm thick with appropriate reinforcement. Workshop slabs with heavier loading may need to be 125–150mm and may require additional reinforcement. We also always pour to engineers specs.
-
Yes — and that’s the typical sequence. The pad needs to be poured, cured and ready before the shed installer arrives. We coordinate timing with your shed supplier so everything sequences correctly.
-
Pads attached to a habitable building (e.g., the garage of a new home) are usually covered under the home’s building approval. Standalone shed pads may or may not need approval depending on size, height, and proximity to boundaries — local council rules vary across Perth. Worth checking with your local council before construction.
-
Hairline cracking is normal for any concrete slab. We control it through proper reinforcement, joint placement and curing. Major structural cracking is rare with a properly installed pad.
-
Yes — polished concrete and honed concrete garage floors are increasingly popular for high-end builds and for homeowners who want their garage to look as good as the rest of the home. We pour the slab and polish on site. See our polished concrete page and our honed concrete page for more.
