Exposed aggregate
Architectural aggregate finishes sourced from premium Australian suppliers including Boral, Limecrete, WA Premix and Heidelberg Materials. Available mixes include Coral White, Eucalyptus White and Kaajani Grey among many others — see samples in person at our supplier partners in East Perth, Bibra Lake and Osborne Park before committing.

Honed & polished concrete
Honed and polished concrete are architectural finishes from the same premium supply chain as exposed aggregate. The difference is in how the surface is processed: honed concrete is mechanically ground to a refined matte finish and sealed. Both finishes start with the same architectural mix design. Polished concrete takes the mechanical grinding process to a high-gloss finish, typically used for interior ground slabs, garages and undercover alfrescos. Decorative ground slabs are poured at 32MPa to accommodate the polishing process.
Another recent project in Gosnells was the replacement of a driveway crossover. These works were completed in standard grey concrete to City of Gosnells specification.
Our work in Gosnells
Rescuing a compromised house slab — footing extension and structural upgrade
One of the more technically demanding Gosnells scopes Colacrete has completed involved rescuing a house slab project that had been abandoned by the original concreter after the footings were laid incorrectly.
The footings were approximately one metre short of their specified length and the surface level varied by up to 50mm across the footing run — well outside the tolerances required for a reliable slab foundation. The homeowner was left with a structurally compromised starting point and no path forward.
Colacrete extended the footings to their required dimensions and addressed the level variation through careful formwork setup. Because the existing footing surface varied significantly, the slab was laid at a variable thickness — thicker on the low side — to achieve a level finished surface. To account for this complexity and provide the homeowner with genuine structural confidence, Colacrete upgraded both the reinforcement and concrete strength beyond the original design: SL82 mesh in place of the SL62 in the specification, and 32MPa concrete in place of the designed 25MPa. The result is a slab that performs to a meaningfully higher standard than what was originally designed.

Why Gosnells homeowners and builders choose Colacrete
Gosnells sits in the City of Gosnells in Perth's south-east corridor — an established suburb with a mix of older family homes and newer builds on subdivided and infill lots. Soil conditions in Gosnells vary more than in Perth's western suburbs — some areas have sandy soils consistent with the coastal plain while others, particularly further east, have more reactive clay content that can affect slab design and joint planning. This makes site-specific subgrade assessment more important here than in many western suburbs. Building activity in the area ranges from renovation of older properties to new residential construction on subdivided lots, with consistent demand for house slabs, driveway replacements and garage pads.
Colacrete is a member of the Housing Industry Australia (HIA), Master Builders Association (MBA) and Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA). Eddie brings an engineering background in civil and construction management alongside long-standing experience across concreting and general construction projects spanning a wide variety of disciplines, scales and scopes.

Gosnells has a broad mix of housing styles and budgets. For homeowners upgrading an older driveway, exposed aggregate — particularly warm neutral tones from Boral or WA Premix — makes a meaningful difference to street appeal. Standard grey concrete remains the practical and cost-effective choice for garages, sheds and structural slabs. For pool surrounds, honed concrete and liquid limestone are both well suited to the suburb's range of pool types and ages.
