Exposed aggregate
Architectural aggregate finishes sourced from premium Australian suppliers including Boral, Limecrete, WA Premix and Heidelberg Materials. Available mixes include Coral White, Eucalyptus White and Kaajani Grey among many others — see samples in person at our supplier partners in East Perth, Bibra Lake and Osborne Park before committing.

Honed & polished concrete
Honed and polished concrete are architectural finishes from the same premium supply chain as exposed aggregate. The difference is in how the surface is processed: honed concrete is mechanically ground to a refined matte finish and sealed. Both finishes start with the same architectural mix design. Polished concrete takes the mechanical grinding process to a high-gloss finish, typically used for interior ground slabs, garages and undercover alfrescos. Decorative ground slabs are poured at 32MPa to accommodate the polishing process.
Our work in Southern River
Three garage slabs across neighbouring properties — same builder, same week
In Southern River, Colacrete completed three grey concrete garage slabs across neighbouring properties for a builder client — all three delivered within the same just-over-a-week window from first enquiry to final pour. The same builder had engaged Colacrete for an alfresco and garage in Harrisdale as well.
Running three garage slabs in close proximity for a single builder programme is a coordination exercise as much as a concrete one. Each slab needs to be formed, reinforced and poured to the same specification while the builder's overall programme keeps moving across all three properties. Colacrete managed the sequencing across the three sites — matching concrete delivery scheduling to site readiness, keeping each pour on track and ensuring all three were finished and handed back to the builder without any of them sitting as a bottleneck.
All three garage slabs were poured in standard grey concrete to our full specification: 100mm thick, 25MPa minimum concrete strength, SL62 reinforcing mesh on bar chairs throughout. Concrete arrived at the correct slump from the batching plant on every pour.
The Colacrete standard
Build to spec
Where a licensed structural engineer has specified drawings, Colacrete works to those specifications. If no drawings or specifications are provided, we work to industry standards.
Communication
We pride ourselves on our prompt communication with all our clients. Not only do we aim to provide quotes within 24-48 hours, but we also keep our clients well informed before, during and after the works.
Our experience
We are owner-operated, and our director comes from an engineering background, having graduated from Curtin University and having worked as an engineer for several years. He also comes from a concreting family, with concreting experience spanning decades.
Why Southern River homeowners and builders choose Colacrete
Southern River sits within the City of Gosnells in Perth's south-east corridor — a suburb that has transitioned steadily from rural-residential character to a more conventional suburban profile over the past two decades, with ongoing new build and infill activity across the area. Soils in Southern River carry more clay content than Perth's western coastal suburbs, as the terrain shifts toward the south-east plain — clay-influenced subgrade warrants careful compaction and assessment before any slab, and is a factor Colacrete accounts for in the site preparation phase of every southern corridor job. The suburb's development profile generates consistent demand for garage slabs and shed pads on new builds, outdoor living concrete as properties are finished, and driveway and crossover work on the established housing stock that predates the area's growth phase.
For builder clients specifically, Southern River's active construction pipeline means reliable concrete subcontractors are in constant demand. Colacrete's track record in the area — delivering multiple garage slabs across neighbouring properties within a single tight programme — positions us as the kind of operator builder clients in the City of Gosnells look for and keep coming back to.
Colacrete is a member of the Housing Industry Australia (HIA), Master Builders Association (MBA) and Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA). Eddie brings an engineering background in civil and construction management alongside long-standing experience across concreting and general construction projects spanning a wide variety of disciplines, scales and scopes.

"...Right from the beginning, Eddie was punctual, friendly and informative and I just knew he was the right guy for the job. I have pretty high expectations and like things done well and I wasn’t disappointed. Eddie went above and beyond what many tradies would have done and took the time and effort to make sure the job was done right. The finish on the slab was actually better than I expected… Again, because they took the time to make it so..."

A building permit is generally required for a garage structure in Southern River — the concrete slab is part of that permitted scope. Crossovers require City of Gosnells approval separately, covering materials, width and drainage requirements. For builder clients working within a development approval, crossover and driveway specifications are typically defined within the broader DA conditions. We advise on what approvals apply to your specific scope during the site visit and quoting process.

Southern River's mix of established homes and newer builds suits a broad range of finishes. For driveways, exposed aggregate in warm neutral tones from Boral, Limecrete or WA Premix adds genuine street appeal to both older and newer properties. Standard grey concrete is the practical and cost-effective choice for garage slabs, shed pads and builder programme work where speed and structural performance are the brief. For alfresco and outdoor living areas on newer builds, honed concrete is increasingly popular in the southern corridor for its refined appearance and durability.

Yes — Colacrete has completed exactly this scope in Southern River, delivering three garage slabs across neighbouring properties for a builder client within a single coordinated programme. Running multiple concurrent pours requires careful scheduling of concrete deliveries, formwork sequencing and crew deployment across sites. It is the kind of work that suits an operator with genuine construction programme experience — and it is something we do regularly for builder clients in Southern River and the surrounding City of Gosnells area.

For builder clients with active construction programmes, turnaround time is critical. Our recent Southern River project — three garage slabs across neighbouring properties — went from first enquiry to completion in just over a week, consistent with the week-long turnaround we had delivered for the same builder on a prior job in Harrisdale. Scheduling capacity varies with our current workload, but we prioritise fast response and tight scheduling for builder clients where the concrete is on the critical path. Contact us to discuss your timeline.
