Honed & polished concrete
Same architectural supply chain as exposed aggregate- different surface finish. The difference is in how the surface is processed: honed concrete is mechanically ground to a refined matte finish and sealed. Both finishes start with the same architectural mix design. Polished concrete takes the mechanical grinding process to a high-gloss finish, typically used for interior ground slabs, garages and undercover alfrescos. Decorative ground slabs are poured at 32MPa to accommodate the polishing process.

Carport slab, driveway, garage and NDIS access ramp — a complete residential renovation scope
In Attadale, Colacrete completed a comprehensive renovation concrete package: carport slab and footings, driveway, garage and an NDIS-compliant access ramp. The finish throughout was standard grey concrete with a textured non-slip surface — chosen for its durability, practicality and suitability for the access requirements.
One of the key challenges on this site was drainage. An unusually positioned drain did not align with the natural fall of the driveway. Rather than compromise the drainage outcome, Colacrete designed and executed fanned surface levels — directing water from multiple points on the slab toward the drain without pooling anywhere across the finished surface.
The carport footings were poured ahead of the main slab, providing the structural base for the carport's columns to be anchor-bolted into position — coordinated with the carport manufacturer's bolt layout and load requirements. Subgrade levelling and compaction was completed across the full footprint prior to any concrete work.
