Exposed aggregate
Architectural aggregate finishes sourced from premium Australian suppliers including Boral, Limecrete, WA Premix and Heidelberg Materials. Available mixes include Coral White, Eucalyptus White and Kaajani Grey among many others — see samples in person at our supplier partners in East Perth, Bibra Lake and Osborne Park before committing.

Honed & polished concrete
Honed and polished concrete are architectural finishes from the same premium supply chain as exposed aggregate. The difference is in how the surface is processed: honed concrete is mechanically ground to a refined matte finish and sealed. Both finishes start with the same architectural mix design. Polished concrete takes the mechanical grinding process to a high-gloss finish, typically used for interior ground slabs, garages and undercover alfrescos. Decorative ground slabs are poured at 32MPa to accommodate the polishing process.
Our work in Coogee
House footings and ground floor slab for a builder client in Coogee
In Coogee, Colacrete completed the footings and ground floor slab for a residential new build, working directly with a builder client.
We poured the footings first and let them set before coming back to pour the slab on top — the standard two-stage approach that gives the footings time to gain strength before any load goes over them. The slab was poured to the engineer's mix and thickness specification, with reinforcement mesh placed to the drawings.
Coogee's sandy coastal soils are generally straightforward to work with, though the depth to limestone can vary across a site — something we keep an eye on during the footing excavation and adjust to as needed.
For a builder client, the priority is always getting the concrete done on time and to spec so the rest of the build can move forward. The frame can't go up until the slab is right, so we work to the builder's programme and hand the site back without delays.
The Colacrete standard
Build to spec
Where a licensed structural engineer has specified drawings, Colacrete works to those specifications. If no drawings or specifications are provided, we work to industry standards.
Communication
We pride ourselves on our prompt communication with all our clients. Not only do we aim to provide quotes within 24-48 hours, but we also keep our clients well informed before, during and after the works.
Our experience
We are owner-operated, and our director comes from an engineering background, having graduated from Curtin University and having worked as an engineer for several years. He also comes from a concreting family, with concreting experience spanning decades.
Why Coogee homeowners and builders choose Colacrete
Coogee sits within the City of Cockburn on Perth's southern coastal strip — a suburb with genuine coastal character, beach access and a premium residential market that has attracted steady development and renovation activity alongside the broader growth of the southern coast corridor. Sandy soils with limestone substrate at varying depths are typical in Coogee's coastal setting — the sandy profile is generally good for bearing capacity, but limestone close to the surface can influence footing depth and profile on some sites, making individual site assessment important before any structural concrete programme begins.
For builder clients working in Coogee, the combination of premium residential demand and active new build activity generates consistent requirement for house slab and footing work across the suburb. Colacrete brings both the structural capability to execute these scopes to engineer's specification and the programme reliability that builder clients need from a concrete subcontractor.
Colacrete is a member of the Housing Industry Australia (HIA), the Master Builders Association (MBA) and the Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA). Director Eddie brings an engineering background in civil and construction management alongside long-standing experience across concreting and general construction projects spanning a wide variety of disciplines, scales and scopes — from residential driveways and decorative finishes through to house slabs, footings and complete structural concrete packages for builder and developer clients.

Yes — a new residential build in Coogee requires development approval from the City of Cockburn and a building permit before any structural concrete is poured. All structural concrete including footings and the ground floor slab must be executed to the licensed structural engineer's approved drawings. Colacrete works to those drawings precisely. The builder manages the development approval and building permit process — Colacrete's role begins once the approvals and structural drawings are in hand and the site is ready.

Coogee's coastal soil profile is typically sandy with limestone substrate at varying depths. Sandy soils generally have good bearing capacity, but where limestone is close to the surface the footing profile may need to be adjusted at the time of excavation based on what is found. This is assessed on the day of excavation and managed in coordination with the structural engineer's requirements. Colacrete assesses site conditions as they present and responds appropriately — this kind of on-site flexibility is part of what builder clients in Coogee need from a reliable concrete subcontractor.

Coogee's premium coastal homes suit architectural finishes that complement the suburb's seaside character. For driveways, exposed aggregate in lighter coastal tones — Boral's Atlantis Beach or Limecrete's Coral White — suits the suburb's beach-adjacent aesthetic well. Liquid limestone is popular for pool surrounds and outdoor entertaining areas in Coogee's coastal residential market. Honed concrete suits alfresco areas and outdoor living spaces. For structural house slabs and garage pads, the finish is determined by the intended use and any floor covering above.
