Exposed aggregate
Architectural aggregate finishes sourced from premium Australian suppliers including Boral, Limecrete, WA Premix and Heidelberg Materials. Available mixes include Coral White, Eucalyptus White and Kaajani Grey among many others — see samples in person at our supplier partners in East Perth, Bibra Lake and Osborne Park before committing.

Honed & polished concrete
Honed and polished concrete are architectural finishes from the same premium supply chain as exposed aggregate. The difference is in how the surface is processed: honed concrete is mechanically ground to a refined matte finish and sealed. Both finishes start with the same architectural mix design. Polished concrete takes the mechanical grinding process to a high-gloss finish, typically used for interior ground slabs, garages and undercover alfrescos. Decorative ground slabs are poured at 32MPa to accommodate the polishing process.
Our work in Fremantle
Full-service concrete across Fremantle's diverse architectural landscape — decorative, structural and shed pads
Fremantle's built environment is unlike any other Perth suburb — heritage limestone cottages, converted industrial buildings, terrace homes and contemporary custom builds occupy the same streets. The concrete scope in Fremantle reflects this variety, and Colacrete has delivered across the full range.
We have completed full concrete packages on bespoke builds in the Fremantle area: exposed aggregate driveways in architectural Limecrete products, high-specification decorative ground slabs poured at 32MPa for polishing, liquid limestone pool surrounds with cantilevered pool edges, suspended slabs and complete concrete staircases.
Shed pads and workshop slabs are also a regular Fremantle request — both for residential outbuildings and for light commercial and industrial sheds in the suburb's mixed-use zones. We reinforce and specify to the appropriate standard for the structure type and intended load.
The heritage context in parts of Fremantle requires additional care around access, noise management and site protection — particularly where work is adjacent to listed buildings or within the heritage overlay area. Colacrete coordinates with council requirements where these apply.
The Colacrete standard
Build to spec
Where a licensed structural engineer has specified drawings, Colacrete works to those specifications. If no drawings or specifications are provided, we work to industry standards.
Communication
We pride ourselves on our prompt communication with all our clients. Not only do we aim to provide quotes within 24-48 hours, but we also keep our clients well informed before, during and after the works.
Our experience
We are owner-operated, and our director comes from an engineering background, having graduated from Curtin University and having worked as an engineer for several years. He also comes from a concreting family, with concreting experience spanning decades.
Why Fremantle homeowners and builders choose Colacrete
Fremantle is governed by the City of Fremantle and operates one of Perth's most active heritage planning frameworks. Sandy soils with limestone substrate are typical — the port city sits on the same western coastal limestone as East Fremantle and Bicton, and subgrade conditions are generally good. The City of Fremantle's heritage overlay areas influence crossover and driveway material choices on some properties; crossover specifications also consider the suburb's active pedestrian and cycling infrastructure. The concrete scope in Fremantle spans a wide range: bespoke decorative packages on custom builds, practical shed pads and workshop slabs on larger lots and light industrial sites, and driveway replacements and upgrades across the established residential stock.
Colacrete is a member of the Housing Industry Australia (HIA), Master Builders Association (MBA) and Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA). Eddie brings an engineering background in civil and construction management alongside long-standing experience across concreting and general construction projects spanning a wide variety of disciplines, scales and scopes.

"Eddie and his team are incredible. We're in Spearwood and had a concrete slab, concrete footpath and extension of our patio concrete installed, and from our initial conversation, to the job being complete, it's been an awesome experience. They worked around the strip drains beautifully, and took care to make sure it looks awesome to see on the daily! We look forward to putting our new sheds up - cheers team!"

Yes — crossovers in Fremantle require City of Fremantle approval before construction. The City has specific requirements around materials, width, proximity to street trees and heritage elements. Some properties fall under heritage overlays that influence the design and material choices available for driveways and outdoor surfaces. Colacrete advises on heritage considerations during the site visit and quoting process.

Fremantle's diverse architectural character means there is no single dominant finish. Exposed aggregate — particularly from Limecrete's architectural range — is popular for prestige driveways on custom builds and renovated homes. Honed and polished concrete suit contemporary builds and covered alfresco areas. Liquid limestone works well for pool surrounds in the suburb's heritage homes. Grey concrete is the practical choice for shed pads, garages and functional surfaces. The finish choice in Fremantle typically follows the architectural character of the individual property.
-
Yes — grey concrete shed pads and workshop slabs are a regular part of our Fremantle work, for both residential outbuildings on larger lots and light commercial structures in the suburb's mixed-use and light industrial zones. We reinforce and specify concrete to the appropriate standard for the structure type and its intended load — a residential garden shed pad and a commercial workshop slab are different scopes and are priced and specified accordingly.
