Exposed aggregate
Architectural aggregate finishes sourced from premium Australian suppliers including Boral, Limecrete, WA Premix and Heidelberg Materials. Available mixes include Coral White, Eucalyptus White and Kaajani Grey among many others — see samples in person at our supplier partners in East Perth, Bibra Lake and Osborne Park before committing.

Honed & polished concrete
Honed and polished concrete are architectural finishes from the same premium supply chain as exposed aggregate. The difference is in how the surface is processed: honed concrete is mechanically ground to a refined matte finish and sealed. Both finishes start with the same architectural mix design. Polished concrete takes the mechanical grinding process to a high-gloss finish, typically used for interior ground slabs, garages and undercover alfrescos. Decorative ground slabs are poured at 32MPa to accommodate the polishing process.
Our work in Bassendean
Driveway replacements and drainage corrections across Bassendean's established streets
Colacrete has completed driveway and crossover work in Bassendean — predominantly replacement projects on homes where the original driveways have reached the end of their service life. Many were laid decades ago to a thinner specification and without the reinforcement or drainage grades we consider standard today.
Our process on Bassendean replacement jobs is methodical: saw cut and remove the existing slab with a bobcat and dump truck, reassess and prepare the subgrade, and lay a new driveway to Council’s full specification. The result is a slab meaningfully stronger than the one it replaces.
On one Bassendean job, Colacrete removed the old slab, redesigned the surface levels and constructed a new crossover.
All crossover work is completed to Town of Bassendean specification including any footpath reinstatement required as part of the scope.
The Colacrete standard
Build to spec
Where a licensed structural engineer has specified drawings, Colacrete works to those specifications. If no drawings or specifications are provided, we work to industry standards.
Communication
We pride ourselves on our prompt communication with all our clients. Not only do we aim to provide quotes within 24-48 hours, but we also keep our clients well informed before, during and after the works.
Our experience
We are owner-operated, and our director comes from an engineering background, having graduated from Curtin University and having worked as an engineer for several years. He also comes from a concreting family, with concreting experience spanning decades.
Why Bassendean homeowners and builders choose Colacrete
Bassendean is governed by the Town of Bassendean and sits on the Swan River floodplain — an established inner-ring suburb of character homes, many built between the 1950s and 1970s. Soils in Bassendean are predominantly sandy with some areas of older fill on subdivided lots; the floodplain influence means subgrade conditions can vary and are worth assessing before any slab is poured. The suburb is undergoing steady renewal as owners invest in character properties with good bones. The dominant concrete scope here is the replacement market: driveways and crossovers that were adequate for their era but are now cracking, heaving or draining poorly. Colacrete's capability in both the earthworks and the concrete means we can fix both problems as part of one scope.
Colacrete is a member of the Housing Industry Australia (HIA), Master Builders Association (MBA) and Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA). Eddie brings an engineering background in civil and construction management alongside long-standing experience across concreting and general construction projects spanning a wide variety of disciplines, scales and scopes.

For Bassendean's established character homes, a well-installed exposed aggregate driveway makes a significant difference to street presence and property value — particularly on homes where the street character is improving with renewal activity. Warm-toned Boral and Limecrete aggregate blends suit Bassendean's brick and weatherboard homes well. Grey concrete remains the practical choice for a tight budget or where a functional replacement is the priority. For pool surrounds, honed concrete and liquid limestone are both well suited to the suburb's older pool stock.

Pooling is a drainage design problem, not a concrete quality problem. The only reliable fix is removal and replacement with a correctly graded new slab. Patching or resurfacing over a poorly graded slab doesn't address the cause. Colacrete redesigns surface falls as part of every replacement scope in Bassendean — the new driveway will drain correctly from day one.
