Exposed aggregate
Architectural aggregate finishes sourced from premium Australian suppliers including Boral, Limecrete, WA Premix and Heidelberg Materials. Available mixes include Coral White, Eucalyptus White and Kaajani Grey among many others — see samples in person at our supplier partners in East Perth, Bibra Lake and Osborne Park before committing.

Honed & polished concrete
Honed and polished concrete are architectural finishes from the same premium supply chain as exposed aggregate. The difference is in how the surface is processed: honed concrete is mechanically ground to a refined matte finish and sealed. Both finishes start with the same architectural mix design. Polished concrete takes the mechanical grinding process to a high-gloss finish, typically used for interior ground slabs, garages and undercover alfrescos. Decorative ground slabs are poured at 32MPa to accommodate the polishing process.
Our work in Dianella
250m² suspended slab for Bionic Construction — poured just before the roof stage
In Dianella, Colacrete completed a 250m² suspended slab for Bionic Construction on a residential development project — poured at the stage just before the roof structure was installed.
The timing of a suspended slab in a build programme is specific. By the pre-roof stage, the walls have reached full height and the structural support for the slab is in place. The slab is poured across the full footprint of the building and left to cure while the upper floor walls and roof structure is prepared above it. Getting the slab right at this stage matters: it is the structural platform that the building's upper level and eventually the roof loads will bear on, and it needs to be poured to the engineer's specification in terms of both concrete strength and dimensional accuracy.
At 250m², this is a significant slab scope — requiring careful coordination of the concrete delivery schedule to ensure the pour is completed continuously without cold joints across the full area. Colacrete managed the pour sequence, placement and finish to the structural engineer's specification.
This is Bionic Construction's third Colacrete project — following work at West Leederville and the broader Yokine development programme. When a builder of Bionic Construction's calibre consistently returns to the same concreter across multiple projects in different suburbs, it reflects the standard of work they're receiving.
The Colacrete standard
Build to spec
Where a licensed structural engineer has specified drawings, Colacrete works to those specifications. If no drawings or specifications are provided, we work to industry standards.
Communication
We pride ourselves on our prompt communication with all our clients. Not only do we aim to provide quotes within 24-48 hours, but we also keep our clients well informed before, during and after the works.
Our experience
We are owner-operated, and our director comes from an engineering background, having graduated from Curtin University and having worked as an engineer for several years. He also comes from a concreting family, with concreting experience spanning decades.
Why Dianella homeowners and builders choose Colacrete
Dianella sits within the City of Stirling in Perth's established inner-northern corridor — a suburb of well-maintained homes, strong amenity and consistent demand for both residential renovation and multi-dwelling development. Its inner-northern position and good school catchments have made it a popular target for infill and development activity, with builder clients active across the suburb at any given time. Sandy soils of the Perth coastal plain are typical in Dianella — generally reliable subgrade conditions that support the development pace. For suspended slabs at the pre-roof stage of a build, access and programme coordination are the key operational considerations: the concrete needs to arrive, be placed and be finished within the window that the construction programme allows before the roof structure follows.
Colacrete's ongoing relationship with Bionic Construction across Dianella, West Leederville and the broader City of Stirling area reflects what builder clients look for in a concrete subcontractor: technical capability on structural scopes, reliable scheduling and execution, and the accountability that comes from an owner-operated business where the director is directly responsible for every job.
Colacrete is a member of the Housing Industry Australia (HIA), Master Builders Association (MBA) and Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA). Eddie brings an engineering background in civil and construction management alongside long-standing experience across concreting and general construction projects spanning a wide variety of disciplines, scales and scopes.

Yes — residential development in Dianella requires development approval from the City of Stirling and a building permit before any structural concrete is poured. All structural concrete including suspended slabs must be executed to the licensed structural engineer's approved drawings. Colacrete works precisely to those drawings on every structural scope. The builder or developer manages the approval process — Colacrete's role begins once the structural drawings are in hand and the site is ready for the concrete.

A suspended slab is a concrete floor poured above ground level — supported by the walls, beams or columns below rather than resting on the ground. In a typical residential build, the suspended slab is poured after the walls have reached the required height and the structural support for the slab is in place. It is usually one of the last major structural concrete operations before the roof structure is installed. On the Dianella project, the slab was poured just before the roof stage — at 250m², a significant pour requiring careful scheduling of the concrete delivery and continuous placement across the full footprint.

Dianella's established homes suit a range of finishes. For driveways, exposed aggregate in warm natural tones from Limecrete and Boral is the most popular upgrade choice — it makes a significant difference to street presence and property value on Dianella's established brick homes. Grey concrete is the practical choice for garage slabs, structural floors and builder programme work. Honed and polished concrete are increasingly popular for alfresco and indoor living areas on Dianella's renovation and infill development projects.
